Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 June 2026
DropSauce ("the app", "we", "us") is a free, open-source manga reader for Android. This Privacy Policy explains what data the app handles, with particular attention to Google user data accessed through the optional Google Drive sync feature.
1. Summary
- DropSauce works fully offline and does not require an account to read or organize manga.
- The app does not have any backend server. We do not collect, store, or transmit your data to ourselves or any third party.
- Google Drive sync is optional and turned off until you choose to sign in with your Google account.
- When enabled, your library data is stored only in your own Google Drive, under your control.
2. Data stored on your device
The app stores your library locally on your device, including: saved (favourite) manga, categories, reading history and per-chapter reading progress, bookmarks, tracking information, reading statistics, and your app settings. This data stays on your device unless you enable Google Drive sync.
3. Google user data and the Drive sync feature
If you choose to enable sync, DropSauce uses Google Sign-In and the Google Drive API. The following Google user data is involved:
3.1 Account profile information
When you sign in, the app receives your basic Google profile information — your email address, name, and profile photo. This is used solely to show you which account you are signed in with, inside the app. It is stored locally on your device and is not sent anywhere else.
3.2 Google Drive access
DropSauce requests the following Google Drive permission scopes:
-
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.appdata— to store a single private synchronization file in the hidden, application-specific data folder of your Google Drive. -
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file— to create and manage only the files that DropSauce itself creates in your Drive.
With these scopes, the app can only access files it creates. It cannot read, view, or modify any other files in your Google Drive. The synchronization file contains the library data described in Section 2 (favourites, categories, history, progress, bookmarks, tracking, statistics, and settings), so that it can be synced to your other devices.
4. How the data is used
Google user data is used only to provide the sync feature you requested: reading your synchronization file from your Drive, merging it with your device, and writing the updated file back to your Drive. The data is transmitted directly between your device and Google's servers using an encrypted connection. It is not processed on, or sent to, any server operated by the developer.
5. How the data is shared
We do not sell, trade, or transfer your Google user data to anyone. The data is not shared with any third party. It exists only on your device and within your own Google Drive account.
6. Limited Use disclosure
DropSauce's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:
- The data accessed is used only to provide and improve the in-app sync feature visible to you.
- The data is not transferred to others except as necessary to provide the feature (i.e. to your own Google Drive), to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger with your explicit consent.
- The data is not used for advertising purposes.
- Humans, including the developer, do not read this data, except where required for security, to comply with applicable law, or with your explicit consent.
7. Data retention and deletion
Because your data lives only on your device and in your own Google Drive, you control it entirely:
- Sign out at any time from the app's sync settings.
- Use the "delete all synced data" option in the app to remove the synchronization file from your Google Drive.
- Revoke the app's access at any time from your Google Account permissions page.
- Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.
8. Children's privacy
DropSauce is not directed at children under the age of 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
